This course will briefly review the importance and types of maintenance,
pavement distress modes and evaluation techniques. Preventative and periodic
maintenance options will be fully explored and detailed. With Pavement Rehabilitation being defined as “a process involving the
application of any treatment which will overcome deficiencies in an existing
pavement in order to provide structural and/or functional adequacy for a
further analysis period”. The course provides advice for the investigation of
existing sealed road pavements and the selection and design of pavement
strategies/treatments specifically for roads carrying normal loadings with a specific focus on flexible pavements.
